Weeping for A World

Recently I have been wanting to learn more of the human figure, male and female alike. I'd like to get the proportions right.

This drawing is a dipiction of what I was pondering about at the time. There is so much death and crime. The woman is the guardian of Death and she is obligated to do her job on earth no matter how hard it is. The angel is comforting her because he feels the same way about the world. I had quite a hard time with the shading...the two figures seemed to blend into each other, so I made the background darker in an attempt to make the scene more clear. Did it work??
I would love to do this in colour...but I don't have the means to...sigh...oneday.
